OpenAI Launches GPT-5 with Expert-Level Abilities

Łukasz Grochal

OpenAI has officially launched GPT-5, the most advanced version of its AI model, now available to over 700 million weekly users of ChatGPT. CEO Sam Altman described it as having "PhD-level knowledge" and being a major step toward artificial general intelligence (AGI). GPT-5 offers smarter, faster responses, improved reasoning, stronger coding skills, and the ability to understand and generate text, audio, and images.

It supports app integrations like Gmail and Calendar and introduces AI “memory,” customizable personalities, and better safety mechanisms. While still not capable of self-learning, GPT-5’s performance approaches expert-level in many domains, making it a transformative upgrade for both personal and professional use.
