On July 15, 2025, YouTube updated its YouTube Partner Program (YPP) monetization rules to target mass-produced, repetitive, or purely AI-generated content, now explicitly labeled as “inauthentic.” Creators who use AI tools to genuinely enhance originality and quality remain eligible for monetization, but channels that rely on templated formats, repetitive uploads, generic AI voiceovers, or stock visuals without personal input risk demonetization.
YouTube’s Head of Editorial, Rene Ritchie, emphasized this is a refinement of long-standing policies rather than a ban on AI content. Reaction videos, compilations, and commentaries are still allowed if they add a unique perspective or personal voice. Enforcement will combine automated AI detection systems with human reviewers. YouTube advises creators to audit their content, add meaningful narration or analysis, and ensure each video delivers authentic value to continue earning ad revenue.
