Comet, Perplexity’s new mobile browser, is now available for Android, packing almost all the features from the desktop version into a convenient app. Users get access to voice controls, tab summaries, and a built-in ad blocker, all tailored for Android’s flexibility. Comet’s appeal lies in its agentic assistance, meaning it can research topics, summarize search results, and even shop for you based on context, aiming to reduce the manual steps common in traditional browsing.
While core features are present, things like bookmark and history syncing with desktop are still in development, with updates expected soon. One standout limitation: Comet isn’t available on all Android devices, notably many Huawei models. This is due to Huawei’s lack of Google Play Services because of U.S. sanctions, which means users on those devices can’t download Comet from the Play Store. The rollout also prioritizes Android due to high OEM interest, with an iOS version in the pipeline for the future.
