Skotsmoen: Fertile Farmlands

Łukasz Grochal

Skotsmoen, situated near Hokksund in Øvre Eiker, Norway, is characterized by gently rolling farmlands that have long supported local agriculture. The area features expansive fields primarily used for growing grains like wheat, barley, and oats, along with patches dedicated to clover and other forage crops for livestock. Many of these fields are part of multi-generational family farms that continue to uphold traditional Norwegian farming values while also integrating modern soil-friendly practices, including crop rotation and reduced tillage. The open landscape of Skotsmoen is marked by neat field boundaries, tree lines, and views of surrounding hills, creating a picturesque rural setting.
