Rumors:

Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls VI, reportedly titled Hammerfell, is shaping up to be the studio’s boldest and most technically ambitious project yet. According to recent leaks and insider posts, the story sets you as a prisoner, likely a pirate, who escapes from an island prison near Sentinel, kicking off the journey at dusk in a massive port city. The game world is expected to be around 1.7 times larger than Skyrim’s and will have a more rugged, grounded atmosphere to reflect the challenging local culture. Notably, most smaller houses will be open and accessible without load screens, while larger buildings like palaces will load separately. Technical feat for Bethesda, considering issues like realistic window and asset streaming.

Fast travel will be limited, replaced by caravans, ships, and signposts for a more immersive journey. Visual weapon and armor wear will be trackable and impact stats, and character progression will use a five-tiered skill system with trainers and unique combat techniques gained from exploring. Naval elements and shipbuilding inspired by Starfield might play a part, and magic is set for a notable overhaul. All signs point to a game planned for late 2028 if all goes smoothly.
