Doom Deluxe Public Beta: A New Doom Mod Compilation

Łukasz Grochal

Doom Deluxe is a new Doom gameplay mod built for UZDoom, and its first public beta arrived after about two years of work by Dox778 and collaborators. The mod is described as a tribute to classic Doom concepts, but with a more unified style and a fresh presentation rather than a strict vanilla remake.
What it seems to offer is a broad mix of familiar and expanded content: the full Skulltag arsenal, commonly used Realm667 items, weapons and fire modes borrowed from other FPS mod traditions, vanilla-inspired visual changes, and a reworked enemy roster. Coverage from community and news sources also points to new weapons, enhanced monster behavior, inventory items, and additional combat options like kicking, sliding, grenades, and taunting.
In practice, this looks like a “best of classic Doom modding” package aimed at players who already know the original games and want something bigger, noisier, and more modern in feel without losing the old-school Doom base. The public beta is early access rather than a final release, so it is better treated as a showcase of direction and features than a finished balance pass.
