Mouse: P.I. For Hire is a story‑driven, single‑player FPS that mixes a hardboiled noir detective tale with the look and feel of 1930s black‑and‑white cartoons. You play as Jack Pepper, a war‑veteran‑turned private investigator working in the crime‑soaked city of Mouseburg, where a seemingly simple missing‑persons case quickly escalates into a tangle of corruption, kidnapping and murder. What really makes the game stand out is its hand‑drawn rubber hose animation: every frame is illustrated in a style clearly inspired by early Mickey‑era shorts, but used to deliver fast, violent gunfights, slapstick gore and exaggerated cartoon reactions.
Underneath the striking art there is a fairly traditional but seemingly solid shooter with constant‑movement combat, an arsenal of pistols, tommy guns, shotguns, melee weapons and bizarre gadgets, plus consumable power‑ups that can turn a fight around. Between missions you return to a small hub district to talk to NPCs, gather clues and upgrade weapons, which gives the whole thing more of an old‑school campaign feel rather than just a level rush.
The campaign is expected to last roughly 12–20 hours depending on how thoroughly you explore. After a short delay, the game is now set to launch on 16 April 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Sen 16 April 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with last‑gen console versions to follow later.
