Larian’s new project Divinity is a return to the studio’s original fantasy universe Rivellon, following the huge success of Baldur’s Gate 3 and the earlier Divinity: Original Sin titles. The reveal at The Game Awards 2025 showed a pure cinematic teaser: a seemingly joyful medieval festival turns into a disturbing ritual around a giant wicker effigy, with a tortured man burned inside and his blood seeping into the soil, twisting the celebration into something grim and supernatural.

Fans expect a story driven CRPG with deep systemic gameplay, party based adventures and moral choices, but Larian has not yet shared concrete details on mechanics, release date or platforms, only confirming that the project connects back to the long running Divinity series rather than Baldur’s Gate. The mix of dark folk horror imagery, hints of cosmic style corruption and the studio’s track record in narration and reactive worlds has already sparked speculation that Divinity could become a strong Game of the Year contender once it finally launches, even though for now all anyone has is that spectacular GOTY 2025 style cinematic and two decades of history in Rivellon to go on
