Outward 2 sticks to a pretty uncompromising survival RPG formula, where exploration, planning and accepting failure matter more than power fantasy. The new preview build opens in Haboo, a multi layer city that acts as a hub before throwing you into the wilds with limited gear, vague leads and no comforting objective markers to follow. You manage classic stats like strength, agility and intelligence, but staying alive also depends on food, temperature, crafting and treating injuries picked up after fights or “defeat scenarios” instead of simple reloads.
Combat builds on the first game with heavier, weighty attacks, poise and stagger, off hand weapons and more complex movesets for two handed gear, rewarding careful spacing over button mashing. The world is split into several open regions that favor reading the terrain over relying on a minimap, so getting lost, ambushed or under geared is part of the loop rather than a mistake to undo. Co op is planned again for the sequel, letting players explore and struggle together, but the overall tone stays deliberately tough, with slow early progression and enemies that can easily punish overconfidence.
