Oxeye daisy

Łukasz Grochal

The oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) is a perennial flowering plant native to Europe and widespread across temperate regions worldwide. Recognizable by its bright white petals surrounding a yellow central disc, it typically grows 30–60 cm tall. Blooming from late spring to autumn, it thrives in meadows, roadsides, and gardens, often forming charming drifts of flowers. Though beloved for its classic daisy look, in some regions it’s considered invasive due to its rapid spread by seeds and rhizomes.

Oxeye daisies symbolize innocence and purity in folklore. They’re hardy, attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, and are sometimes used in wildflower mixes to enhance biodiversity.
