Arrakis Evolves With Dune Awakening’s Major Update

Author: Łukasz Grochal

Funcom is preparing a sizeable update for Dune Awakening that focuses on making Arrakis feel more alive and more dangerous at the same time. The patch leans into survival and PvP by improving Deep Desert encounters, iterating on spice conflict and adding clearer progression hooks for endgame players. Alongside that, the roadmap promises more story, contracts, gear and quality of life changes like character re-customization and better desert navigation, aiming to keep both solo survivors and PvP focused clans engaged over the long haul.

  • Completely rebuilt Landsraad system with new mission selection and political progression for late game players.
  • New Specialisation system with five trees and up to 500 levels, letting you push your character into combat, crafting, harvesting, exploration or sabotage focused roles.
  • Several new overland maps and multiple challenge locations built for specific activities like combat, sabotage, crafting and exploration, including race style content such as the Smugglers Run sandbike course.
  • Repeatable Testing Stations with escalating difficulty that offer extra rewards and help fill out the endgame loop.
  • New augmentation crafting system that lets you create mods for weapons and armor using a dedicated machine, with augments dropping from newly added bosses.
  • Expanded endgame progression around tier 6 so players have more reasons to keep logging in and optimising their builds instead of hitting a hard wall.
  • Combat improvements plus new weapons like Dual Blades and the Pyrocket, and a full rework of the Rapier to make it feel more satisfying to use.
  • Paid Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC adding roughly 74 Smuggler themed building pieces for bases plus new cosmetics and armor sets that fit the outlaw fantasy.
  • Stronger focus on both solo and group friendly activities, so you can earn rewards whether you prefer tackling missions alone or with others.
  • Story continuation after the Chapter 2 cliffhanger, with more narrative content layered on top of the systems focused changes.
