From Gothic to Cralon: A Focused Dungeon RPG Return

Author: Łukasz Grochal

Cralon is a first person dungeon crawler with strong RPG and adventure elements that leans into a classic immersive sim vibe. You play as Cralon the Brave, a demon hunter who ends up trapped in the depths of an old mine after falling into a shaft, then has to navigate a sprawling underground labyrinth to find a way out and uncover what is actually going on down there. The game focuses on exploration, atmosphere and story rather than open world scale, with one huge interconnected dungeon split into themed levels, from gloomy tunnels to underground forests and graveyard like areas.

Expect fully voiced dialogues with choices, side quests, puzzles, traps and a mix of hostile and friendly creatures that can become temporary allies or quest givers, all wrapped in a style that clearly nods to Ultima Underworld, Arx Fatalis and even Thief thanks to its stealth mechanics and interactive environments. There are real time melee and ranged fights, light RPG systems with character progression, crafting and inspectable items, but the general design tries to keep the interface and mechanics fairly clean and focused rather than overly complex.

Overall, Cralon looks like a compact, narrative driven dungeon crawler built by ex Piranha Bytes veterans that aims more at dense atmosphere, player choice and exploration than at sheer size or flashy spectacle.
