Aion 2 was unveiled during a recent NCsoft devstream, showcasing a lengthy real gameplay segment highlighting a vibrant new MMORPG experience. Key innovations over Aion 1 include extensive use of aerial mechanics: players can fly early and freely throughout the world, though flight is disabled during PvP encounters. Gear is purpose-built for PvP, PvE, and bosses, and wings now craftable rather than pay-to-win offer stat boosts alongside their aesthetics.
Content-wise, the game features 1-4 player dungeons, 8-player raids, easy and hard modes, solo dungeons, and challenging 10-stage “Nightmare” dungeons. Cross-server dungeon finding enhances matchmaking, and while PC remains the primary platform, mobile serves as a complementary tool for crafting and mini-games, not automated combat. A console version is also planned, with the Korean release targeted for late 2025.
