Moonlighter 2 Early Access: Fun Fights, Flat Shop Loop

Łukasz Grochal

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault keeps the same core loop as the first game: clear dungeons, juggle relics in a cramped backpack, then sell everything in your shop to fund upgrades. The new isometric 3D view gives fights more tactical space, with weapons like a broom, sword and quirky tools such as a Blob Gun that knock enemies around and combo with on‑run combat bonuses. Inventory remains the standout idea: relics interact with each other, can burn or boost neighbors, and clever packing can massively increase profits.

The early access build, however, weakens the shop system by swapping a tense, per‑day sales target for slower cumulative goals, which makes progression depend less on mastering the game’s three pillars and more on simply grinding out average days. Boss fights hold the priciest loot and key resources for story progress, yet their long, build‑sensitive encounters clash with runs focused on loot synergies, so players are often pushed to prioritize beating bosses over making money, undercutting the shop and inventory layer that still feels like the heart of the game.
