The Voyagers update (version 6.0) fundamentally redefines ship gameplay in No Man’s Sky. Players can now build and pilot Corvette-class starships massive, fully customizable vessels that serve as mobile bases. These ships are modular, assembled piece by piece from hundreds of components from hull plates and wings to interiors like med-bays, sleeping quarters, war rooms, radars, teleporters, nutrition units, refiners, and more.
Once assembled at the Corvette Workshop aboard space stations, these ships can be decorated solo or with friends, unlocked through a new “Corvette” expedition, and encountered fairly early in the game. Corvette interiors are fully traversable boosting immersion as players walk inside, reconfigure layouts mid-flight, and even spacewalk or skydive between ships.
Sean Murray notes the feat required huge engine re-architecture to support dynamic interiors, multiplayer editing, relative physics, and real-time cosmic surroundings.
Perhaps most intriguing is that much of this tech also powers Hello Games’ next project, Light No Fire a single, Earth-sized, shared fantasy world with vast oceans and crewed boats. Voyagers is live now and poised to reshape how players explore and travel.
