DLSS 4.5: Better Stability, RTX 50 Exclusive 6x Mode

Nvidia is rolling out DLSS 4.5 as an update to its existing DLSS 4 stack, with two main changes: a revised Super Resolution model and a new Dynamic Multi Frame Generation system. The Super Resolution part now uses a 2nd generation transformer model trained on a larger, more diverse dataset, which is meant to improve temporal stability, reduce ghosting in motion and clean up aliasing in busy scenes. On the performance side, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation can scale output to roughly three to six times the number of displayed frames compared to the base render, by dynamically adjusting how many frames are generated to hit a user selected FPS target tied to the monitor refresh rate, including 240 Hz panels.

Super Resolution in DLSS 4.5 is planned to be available across all current RTX generations from 20 through 50 series, which keeps image quality updates fairly broad, while the more aggressive dynamic 6x frame generation path is limited at launch to RTX 50 series cards and scheduled for spring 2026, a split that is already raising some concern among owners of older GPUs. Overall, the technology aims to push higher frame rates and smoother motion without completely rewriting game engines, but the trade off is that the most extreme frame multiplication and its benefits remain tied to the newest hardware.
