Hackintosh Era Ends as Apple Drops Intel Support

Łukasz Grochal

The Hackintosh community faces its final curtain as Apple's transition to Apple Silicon culminates with the end of macOS support for Intel Macs in macOS 15. OpenCore, the last great Hackintosh tool, will lose viability as future macOS updates abandon x86 architecture entirely. Developers confirm no plans for M-series CPU emulation, making ARM-based Hackintoshes practically impossible due to Apple's secure boot chain and T2 chips.

While existing Intel Hackintoshes may limp along on older macOS versions, the golden age of custom Mac clones is officially over. Apple's silicon monopoly now leaves enthusiasts with only two choices: pay for genuine Apple hardware or leave the ecosystem.
