Powerful Apple M5 Impresses in First MacBook Pro Benchmarks

Łukasz Grochal

The Apple M5 chip debuts in the latest MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, delivering benchmark results that confirm its leadership in single-core performance. Early Geekbench scores show the M5 MacBook Pro achieving 4,263 points for single-core and 17,862 for multi-core, representing a noticeable boost over the previous M4 generation.

Apple maintains a 10-core configuration with four robust performance cores and six focused on power efficiency. In practice, the M5 surpasses competing processors like Qualcomm X2 Elite and rivals high-end Intel and AMD desktop chips in single-thread tasks, while modestly trailing in multi-core due to fewer total cores. The integrated GPU also sees marked improvements, contributing to enhanced professional and gaming capabilities. Pricing remains unchanged, and the laptop retains its strong battery life and fast storage. Overall, Apple’s M5 marks another step forward in mobile computing power.
